Restaurante Chela

Restaurante Chela (named after the owner) can be a little difficult to find, but it is worth the hunt. The restaurant specializes in traditional Mexican food and has a comfortable and pleasing atmosphere. The menu contains a wide selection of entrées for around US$7 per person. You get to choose how you would like your entrée prepared as well as your side dishes. The restaurant is also a good choice for the health-conscious diner. On Sundays you can order their specialty, "mixiote" (barbequed lamb), which is a culinary treat.

Location: Costa Azul - on a side street two blocks west of the big church (the main square). Closed Mondays.

Menu Items: A variety of entrées cooked to order, with your choice of side dishes. The chicken dishes here are excellent, as are the "swiss" enchilladas (chicken and cheese) and mixiote (lamb, cactus, and spices - Sundays only).
