Veracruz is both a city and state in Mexico and is located in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. It is more of a tourist destination for Mexican tourists than foreigners. The city of Veracruz is home to Plaza Acuario, which is the largest aquarium in all of Latin America. Scuba diving is a popular activity for tourists in both Veracruz and neighboring Boca Del Rio. If you want to absorb some Mexican history, you can take a trip to Tlacotalpan, which is about an hour drive from Veracruz.
